Jenny Conkle—a basketball player herself—would go to his games, watch the shuffling of feet on the court and the ball being passed from player to player, but it wasn’t the same.

“It was really hard just to watch him play knowing that I couldn’t be there after the game,” Jenny said.

Women’s team brings youth, talent to season

The slogan “Taking Care of Business” is usually affiliated with either a popular song or an Office Max commercial. Yet for Belmont fans it can just as easily describe the Bruins Women’s Basketball team at mid-season. The projected A-Sun Champion Bruins rounded out their first half of the season with a solid 8-4 record by going 7 for 7 in games in which they were favored.

Mike Dejworek is known on campus as “the German guy.” The freshman, who at 6-11 is the tallest of this season’s Bruins, is not, however, German; his father is Polish and his mother is Swedish.
