Student sacrifice saves lives

The Relevant Project will sponsor a convocation on the photography of Jeremy Cowart, whose recent book, Hope in the Dark, draws upon the images he encountered while traveling with Blood:Water in Africa last summer.

For the past two weeks, a dedicated band of Belmont students has been committed to helping solve one of the largest human dilemmas currently in the global spotlight – the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa.They are participants in the Two Weeks of Sacrifice campaign, a component of the 1000 Wells Project. This project is sponsored by Blood:Water Mission, a nonprofit organization founded by the members of Jars of Clay.

The skinny on skinny jeans

It’s true those who are a little on the bony side can look like they’re walking on two toothpicks. And those a bit fleshier need to know skinnies enhance curves as well as bulges.

Some say they make people look too fat. Some say they make people look too skinny. But the skinny jean style, for male or female, young or old, is a throwback to the eighties with 21st-century flair.

Skinnies are jeans that are tapered at the ankle and are the latest trend in denim.

“It’s funny now. Bad fashion comes around and makes cameos at random times,” junior Steven Lafever said.

Women’s soccer wins Atlantic Sun opener

The 2006 edition of the Belmont women’s soccer team (7-1-2, 1-0) continued to impress, winning 2-1 against Evansville Sept. 10, tying Tennessee Tech 1-1 in
double overtime Sept. 15, and winning the A-Sun opener against Campbell Sept. 21.
